Copeland returns to Big River with new CD

Guitarist Jon Taubman will be along for the ride

By The Entertainer

CORVALLIS — Corvallis will get their first look at Brian Copeland's latest project at the Big River Restaurant on Friday, Feb. 13. Since his last performance in Corvallis with his previous band Pale Green Pants, the Corvallis native has formed a new project (Brian Copeland Band), released a new CD (Daffodil), and added a new guitarist (Jon Taubman).

The duo, featuring Copeland on vocals and rhythm guitar and Jon Taubman on lead guitar, is a stripped down, acoustic version of Copeland's newly formed Portland pop outfit the Brian Copeland Band. Copeland and Taubman will perform upbeat acoustic versions of the band's original material, along with a variety of covers. Taubman blends sweet lead lines and vocal harmonies with Copeland's rhythmic strumming and lead vocals to give the duo a warm, multi-layered pop sound. For those unfamiliar with the band's material, Copeland will have a limited supply of complimentary copies of the band's single "Daffodil" at the performance.

The Brian Copeland Band released their debut CD "Daffodil" to a packed house at Portland's Fuel this past November. Fans and industry folks alike are already taking notice. The band's new single, "Daffodil" was recently selected as one of four finalists in the international Makestar.com songwriter's contest. Portland's Willamette Week newspaper says "The Brian Copeland Band is a lot like a northwest version of Matchbox 20 ... both projects contain saccharine lyrics, and pop orchestrations so sweet they'd leave Bigfoot a drooling, drunken beast."
