A former member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity at Oregon State University was arrested Monday for allegedly forging criminal sex offender release notifications with names of his former fraternity brothers.

Cyrus Andrew Sullivan, 21, was arrested at his dorm at Portland State University and charged with first-degree forgery, first-degree possession of a forged instrument and criminal impersonation. He was taken to the Benton County Jail.

Sullivan had been kicked out of Tau Kappa Epsilon and was currently a student at Portland State, Benton County Deputy Christopher Gore said this morning.

On April 4, one of the victims notified the sheriff's office about the sex offender notices and an investigation began.

Sullivan allegedly forged government documents and identified himself as coming from the sheriff's office, Gore said.

The forged sex offender notifications were mailed to Tau Kappa Epsilon and to sororities at OSU.

Sullivan is alleged to have made three sex offender notifications, two with names of OSU students and one with the name of a California person.

The Benton County Sheriff's Office has seized Sullivan's computer and is applying for a search warrant, Gore said.

In an unrelated incident that was not criminal, Sullivan had previously sent notices claiming Tau Kappa Epsilon was holding an STD (sexually transmitted disease) clinic with testimonials by some of the fraternity members, Gore said.

Sullivan is currently on probation with the Multnomah County Community Corrections for two counts of attempting to assault a public safety officer.
