People arrested are innocent unless proved otherwise in court. Initial charges often change as a case progresses.

CORRECTION

Sweet Home fire — The Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District located the body of Thomas Brenner Jr., who died Tuesday in a house fire, immediately upon entering the premises, Fire Chief Mike Beaver said. The Democrat-Herald incorrectly reported Wednesday that firefighters found Brenner after extinguishing the fire.

ALBANY POLICE

Search warrant — Members of the Linn Drug Task Force executed a search warrant Wednesday at a house in the 800 block of 18th Avenue S.W.

Police Capt. Eric Carter said that detectives found methamphetamine, marijuana, five rifles and a stolen guitar. Before the search started, police had to contain a “vicious” pit bull at the house.

The Department of Human Services took a 7-year-old girl into protective custody.

Three Albany residents were arrested and taken to the Linn County Jail. James Terry Crump, 24, was charged with parole violation and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. He also had outstanding warrants for failure to appear and contempt of court.

Rusty Aaron Fluette, 35, was charged with possession of meth. Christopher Glen Susnick, 22, was charged with possession of meth, delivery of meth and endangering the welfare of a minor.

Car theft — A red and gray 1989 Chevy S10 Blazer was stolen Wednesday from the 3400 block of Pacific Boulevard S.W. The license is QCG 209.

LINN COUNTY SHERIFF

Ring theft — A diamond wedding ring and a fishing knife worth about $2,650 were reported stolen Wednesday. The sheriff’s office was following up on information about a possible suspect.

Wallet theft — A man was charged with second-degree theft Wednesday after allegedly stealing another man’s wallet at a store in Scio. A boyfriend of the store clerk had confronted the suspect and taken back the wallet before a deputy arrived. According to a sheriff’s office report, the suspect had used money from the other man’s wallet to purchase items at the store after taking the wallet off the counter.
