Police respond to weapons complaint at library

Police responded to a weapons complaint Wednesday afternoon outside the Albany Public Library and found the suspect shortly after the incident at his home on Geary Street S.E.

According to police, a man and his adult son were in a physical fight near the main library, 1390 Waverly Drive S.E., when the father told a witness to call for help. The son then pointed what appeared to be a small handgun at the witness.

Officers located the father and son at their residence in the 3600 block of Geary Street S.E. They searched a pickup and found a BB pistol.

The son was arrested for menacing. Police were still investigating Wednesday afternoon.
