A man rode his bicycle through a busy Albany intersection against a red light and crashed into a van Thursday, police said.
After being flown to the Corvallis hospital in critical condition, he was listed in serious condition this morning.
The collision happened at about 5 p.m. at Waverly Drive and 14th Avenue S.E.
Police said Gordon Gene Lemke, 45, of Albany was riding his bicycle south on the sidewalk along Waverly Drive when he crossed the intersection and collided with the van.
The 2002 Pontiac van, driven by Maria Gomora Hernandez, 33, of Albany, was traveling east on 14th Avenue through a green light, according to police and witnesses at the scene.
Hernandez was not injured.
A REACH helicopter was flown in and landed in a parking lot west of the Albany Public Library. Lemke was driven by ambulance to the helicopter and then flown to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis.
Lemke was in the intensive care unit this morning, according to the hospital.
Members of the Multi Agency Accident Investigation Team were called in.
The street east of the intersection was closed for about two hours.
Police said this morning that Lemke was intoxicated, and charges against him are pending.
