Youth sports camps

Lebanon girls basketball

The Warrior Girls Hoops Skills Camp will be held June 19-21 in Lebanon.

The camp will include two sessions: for Junior Warriors (grades 1-4 from 9 a.m. to noon at Pioneer) and Future Warriors (grades 5-8 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Lebanon High School).

The camp will include a strong emphasis on shooting fundamentals, ball handling, individual and team offense and defense, and the importance of communication, attitude, confidence, etc.

The cost is $40 for the Junior Warriors and $50 for Future Warriors.

The cost includes a T-shirt, Gatorade, nutritional snacks and prizes.

Lebanon High School coaches and players will be the instructors.

Registration will be held 30 minutes before the first day of each session.

OSU women’s basketball Oregon State women’s basketball head coach LaVonda Wagner will host three youth camps in the coming weeks.

A team camp geared for high school and AAU teams will be held from June 22-24.

Teams will be assigned a division to compete in the tournament format camp and all teams will play a minimum of six games.

Each team will have the opportunity to get an inside look at the facilities used by the Oregon State women’s basketball team and coaches.

In addition, each coach will have the opportunity to attend “Chalk Talk” sessions with the OSU staff. The cost is $1,000 per team (a minimum of eight players).

OSU will also conduct two sessions of individual day camp for girls ages

9-17.

Session 1 will run from June 19-20, while Session 2 will be June 27-28. Cost for each session is $165.

Basic fundamentals of basketball as well as individual player development will be accomplished through clinic and station work with the Beaver basketball camp staff.

The individual camps will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with lunch provided. All campers will receive a Nike camp T-shirt and a Nike camp basketball.

OSU softball

The Oregon State softball program will hold three different summer camps in the upcoming weeks.

A pitching and catching camp will be held on June 19, while an all-skills camp will be conducted on June 20.

Pitching camp

Date: Tuesday, June 19

Time: 9 a.m. n 2 p.m.

Ages: 8-18

Cost: $75

This camp will feature the most basic to the advanced mechanics of pitching. Coaches will introduce different pitches as well as watch and analyze video of top pitchers.

Pitchers must provide their own catcher.

Catching Camp

Date: Tuesday, June 19

Time: 9 a.m. n 2 p.m.

Ages: 8-18

Cost: $75

This camp is separate from the pitching camp. Instructors will demonstrate and drill catchers on blocking, framing, and field play, as well as instruct on the “role” of the catcher.

All Skills Camp

Date: Wednesday, June 20

Time: 9 a.m. n 2 p.m.

Ages: 8-18

Cost: $75

This camp will feature instruction in hitting, basic defense, base running and specific position play.

Campers will be grouped according to age and skill level.

The correct techniques and fundamentals for all positions will be taught through drills and individual/small group instruction.

OSU VOLLEYBALL

The Oregon State volleyball program will hold three different summer camps next month.

A team camp will be held July 20-22, while an overnight all skills camp will be conducted July 22-25, and a commuter all-skills camp takes place July 26-27.

OSU also has the “Winning Edge” coaches clinic on July 28. Registration is ongoing and can be completed online at www.osubeavers.com/.

Volleyball Team Camp

Date: Friday-Sunday, July 20-22

Time: Overnight

Ages: 12-18

Cost: $285/player

This exciting camp is for high school, junior high school and club teams. The focus of this camp will be on team-based tactical and technical training for players. Teams must have 8-12 players.

All Skills Camp

Overnight Dates: Sunday-Wednesday, July 22-25

Cost: $380

Commuter Dates: Thursday-Friday, July 26-27

Cost: $150

Ages: 12-18

The select camps will provide an exciting and challenging instruction on all aspects of the game. Sessions will focus on the 6 volleyball skills; serving, passing, hitting, setting, blocking and defense.

“Winning Edge” Coaches Clinic

Date: Saturday, July 28

Cost: $100 (early bird), $125 (after June 30, 2007)

This camp focuses on practice planning and management, offense/defense, tactics and skills for all levels, coaching methodology and more.
