Reckless burn — Police and firefighters responded Monday afternoon to 21st Avenue S.E. for a report of a small grass fire east of Periwinkle Elementary School.

Police said they found two teenage boys in the area and that one of them had lit a firework and thrown it into the grass. The boy was charged with reckless burning and taken to the Linn Benton Juvenile Detention Center.

Stolen vehicles — A white 2003 Dodge van with license 761 CQJ was reported stolen Monday from the 1200 block of Cleveland Street S.E. Value: $17,000.

A blue 1995 4x4 Toyota pickup with an extended cab was reported stolen Monday from the 400 block of Pacific Boulevard S.W. The license is ZMK 799.

LINN COUNTY SHERIFF

Stolen jewelry — Jewelry worth $7,500 was reported stolen Monday from a house in the 38000 block of Weirich Drive. Items included a gold wedding ring with a diamond, a gold wedding band and a watch on a gold chain necklace.

Crash — Deputies responded to a crash at 6:18 p.m. Monday after a pickup struck the bridge on Main Street in Brownsville. The driver, Michael Paxton, 17, of Halsey, was taken to the Lebanon hospital with minor injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.

Paxton told deputies that another vehicle, possibly a Honda car, had come into his lane of travel and he swerved to miss the car that left the area. Deputies were planning to follow up with the second car.
