People arrested are innocent unless proven otherwise in court. Initial charges often change as a case progresses.
ALBANY POLICE
Car prowler report — Police received a call at 10:20 p.m. Thursday of two kids car prowling in the 1700 block of First Ave. N.E. An officer spotted two teenage boys on bicycles that matched the description given by the caller. The officer tried to stop the boys but they took off and went inside a house. No one answered the door and officers thought the boys might have broken into the house so they went in with a police dog. They found the boys and learned that they had permission to be there.
The boys, ages 18 and 16, were each arrested on charges of interfering with police and being a minor in possession of alcohol.
Wire theft — Copper wire was reported stolen Thursday from an electrical box in the 1700 block of Geary Street S.E. Value: $1,500.
Suspicious man — A woman told police that while she was running at about 9 p.m. Thursday on 34th Avenue S.E., a man she passed on the sidewalk made threatening comments and pushed her. Officers looked for the man but couldn’t find him.
LINN COUNTY SHERIFF
Car found — A Honda Civic that was stolen Wednesday night in Albany turned up Thursday along Tennessee Road, outside of Lebanon. Someone saw the car and called the sheriff’s office.
SWEET HOME POLICE
Search warrant — Sweet Home police and Linn County sheriff’s deputies served a narcotics search warrant and arrested three men Thursday morning at 1907 W St., in Sweet Home.
Police reported finding methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, scales, drug packaging material and stolen property, including a bicycle stolen from Oregon State University.
John Oliver Pruitt, 62, was charged with possession of meth and first-degree theft by receiving. Eino Thomas Pruitt, 36, was charged with possession of meth. They were taken to the Linn County Jail. A 41-year-old man was charged with frequenting a place where narcotics are sold and used.
Since 1994, police have served four narcotics search warrants and done other searches at the house.
