Frances Kay ‘Fran’ Heckart

April 28, 1946 — Feb. 20, 2008

Frances “Fran” Kay Heckart, 61, died Wednesday of pancreatic cancer.

She was born in Valley City, N.D., to Clifford and Marjorie (Nims) Aune.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Harrisburg Christian Church.

She married Lee Heckart on March 21, 1992, in Coburg.

She graduated from high school in LaMoure, N.D., in 1964, and from Valley City State University in 1968.

Fran was a teacher at Harrisburg Elementary School until her retirement. She was a member of the Harrisburg Christian Church, the Red Hat Society and the Emerald Empire Vintage Auto Club. Fran especially enjoyed quilting and made many beautiful quilts for her family and friends.

Survivors include husband Lee; sons Justin Heckart of Harrisburg and Doug Heckart of Athens, Ga.; brothers Merle Aune of Harrisburg and Merrit Aune of Emmett, Idaho; stepmother Mae Aune of Harrisburg; and stepsisters Marilyn Smith of Albany and Susie Williams of Salem. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Velva.

Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
