Estella “Mae” (Painter) Parker died on April 12, at Desert Pines Eldercare in Green Valley, Ariz. Her ashes will be buried with her beloved husband of 50 years, Fielding “Jake” Parker, at Sand Ridge Cemetery.

Mae was born in Wyoming, but at the age of 3, she and her family moved to Oregon. Mae went to elementary school and high school in Corvallis. She worked and put herself through Oregon Agricultural College, graduating in 1932 with a degree in business education. Soon after graduation, she met her husband, Fielding “Jake” Parker. Mae helped Jake farm their land and other parcels which they rented. She also worked as a bookkeeper for the Albany Feed and Seed Co. for many years.

Mae, along with her husband, was an avid fisherman and truly enjoyed the great outdoors of Oregon. In retirement, she liked to travel with her sisters, along with playing pinochle and billiards at the Albany Senior Center. In September 2005, Mae decided to leave Oregon so that she could be near her great-nephew, Mike Eman, and his wife, Jessie.

She is survived by her niece, Molly Raab of Woodside, Calif.; nephews Jimmy Buckingham of Bremerton, Wash., Dean Painter of Raleigh, N.C., Michael Painter of Stonewall, Texas; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fielding “Jake” Parker, two sisters and two brothers.

A memorial graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at Sand Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Barbara Nixon officiating.
