Albany students study in Senegal

Two Albany students are participating in the Goshen (Ind.) College Study-Service Term in Senegal this summer, along with 21 other students. Goshen established the unit in the French-speaking West African country in 2004 and this is the third group to go to there.

Alana Kenagy, daughter of Peter Kenagy and Tina Springer of Albany, is majoring in communication and art. She is a 2007 graduate of West Albany High School and attends Albany Mennonite Church.

Dirk Leichty, son of Mark Leichty and Ann Detweiler of Albany, is majoring in art and environmental science. He is a 2004 graduate of West Albany High School and also attends Albany Mennonite Church.

The students left for Senegal on April 29 and will return to the United States on July 29. Students lived in Dakar, the country’s capital, the first half of the 13-week term, and then moved into other areas of the country for service assignments.
