Fire burns ryegrass field

Firefighters finish putting out a fire in an unharvested ryegrass field Monday afternoon at the intersection of Seven Mile Lane and Fry Road, between Tangent and Albany. The fire was caused by a hot bearing on a spreader and burned about three acres, according to the Tangent fire district. Albany and Lebanon firefighters assisted. Firefighters from Scio, Jefferson, Stayton, Lyons and Sublimity were called to a wheat field fire on Stayton-Scio Road later on Monday.
