McCain is right choice

Obama is an empty suit. Mr. Scheele states that Obama has introduced this bill and that bill. The fact is, he has not sponsored a single bill that has been signed into law, and on the most important and/or controversial bills. This so-called leader votes “present;” he will not take a stand. This is politics as usual. “Hope” and “change” are just stupid slogans that mean nothing!

Obama’s got the Democrats bashing America. Now watch as Obama runs to the center and gets cover from the media. While he says his positions haven’t changed, voters must see through this leftist-blame-America-first liberal. McCain is the right choice and the only choice for America.

No greenhouse effect

I am a retired professional engineer. I graduated from Oregon State College (OSU) in 1950 in Mechanical Engineering. I registered as a professional engineer in 1963 and practiced until 2001, or for 38 years. I registered as a mechanical, electrical and environmental engineer and have been manufacturing in Oregon, Arkansas, Louisiana and South Carolina.

If everyone would think, they would know that global warming comes from the sun. To reduce the 0.03 percent carbon dioxide in the atmosphere would have no effect on global warming; it is equal to three people in 10,000.

Reducing burning carbon to control global warming is a fraud. There is no such thing as the Earth’s greenhouse effect. Yes, the Earth has been warming for centuries.

Water vapor is 62 percent lighter than air and rises, carbon dioxide is 52 percent heavier that air and stays at ground level. Only aircraft put carbon dioxide at higher elevations.

One simple example of how Mother Nature controls the cooling of the Earth: At Willamette’s Foster 55 area mill pond, on a hot day it lost 3/8 inches due to evaporation. This is 4,482,781,380 BTU’s. This vapor being lighter than air rises, giving up its heat to space by radiation in the cooler stratosphere, forming clouds. It comes back as cooler rain.

If you have ever flown at 35,000 feet over the white clouds, they reflect the sun’s rays back into space, keeping our ground temperatures lower on a cloudy day. Activists ignore this.

God help us if our politicians listen to the activist and legislate carbon control. This would cost us billions and do nothing. Even the activists do not agree on their greenhouse theory.

Green radicals at fault

If you are on a fixed income you should really take some time to let environmental extremists know what you think about their role in stopping logging and new energy production efforts.

For most of us the costs of gas, food, housing, fuel, roads and law enforcement are getting out of hand, and the environmental extremists are primarily responsible. You should take the time to recognize these people and give them your “special” blessing because they have allowed you to give up so much on behalf of their extremist beliefs.

Environmental extremists have discounted the guiding principles of conservationist Gifford Pinchot when he helped to create the U.S. Forest Service. Gifford Pinchot understood values of nature and how to protect the forests with a balance of economics and management of our resources.

Integrated forest management strategies look at the health of the forest within an adaptive management context. Plans call for the development of a variety of stand structures across the landscape. This will, in turn, benefit local and regional economies while providing ample opportunities for forest recreation such as hunting, berry picking, wildlife viewing and hiking.

Healthy forest ecosystems with varied stand structures also have an added benefit as a deterrent against forest fires. Plans also have strategies for properly functioning aquatic and riparian habitats which will benefit the recreational and commercial fisheries.

Because environmental extremists have successfully blocked almost all federal timber sales through our legal system, we now have densely stocked, unhealthy forests resulting in catastrophic annual forest fires.

Don’t blame Nancy Pelosi (U.S. Speaker for the House) for not renewing the legislation to obligate money for federal timber payments. Activists have been pressuring and suing governments and agencies for decades now. Activists are excluding science and proven safe practices to scare people into paying more for fuel that is not safer for the environment. The result is a system of government that is bowing to special interests. It’s called tyranny by the minority and the rest of us are paying the price.

Fuel costs — whom to blame

After listening to the ranting of the liberals blaming everyone but themselves for the high cost of fuel, I decided someone has to do something. So, it’s me giving a glimpse of the other side, the President Bush side looking out for the American people. Here are three sets of people that are mostly to blame:

From 1995 to 1996, Congress passed a bill to drill in ANWR. President Clinton vetoed it because he was giving the radical environmentalists carte blanche on everything. Remember the spotted owl gimmick? These two ruined the lumber industry on the West Coast.

When President Bush was elected, one of the first proposals was to drill for oil in ANWR and other places, so America would not be dependent on foreign oil. The Democrats voted it down; check the congressional records if you wish. The liberal Democrats voted against it to spite President Bush because Gore and his lawyers couldn’t crook the election.

The liberal Democrats for Oregon also voted against drilling for oil, against America, so we couldn’t be independent of foreign oil. Check their records at Congress.

The third party to blame is the Democrats in Congress. Remember when you put gas in your cars, they are the reason you are paying the price. We would be using our oil now — almost independent of foreign oil. Almost eight years ago we could have drilled.

We do not need another liberal socialist like Clinton in the White House. Obama and Clinton are exactly alike. Both are modern-day Pied Pipers blowing their “charm” of hot air and empty promises, without a clue on how to run our country.

Senator John McCain is the only one qualified to be president in this critical time for our country.
