CORVALLIS — Senior Lauren Rinderknecht led the Oregon State volleyball team at the net with nine total blocks as the Beavers topped the Pacific Tigers in five sets Friday.

Oregon State (5-0) recorded 13 total blocks as a team to Pacific’s (0-3) five, winning in set scores of 22-25, 25-18, 19-25, 25-23, 15-10.

Senior Ashley Evans led the Oregon State defense in the backcourt with 19 digs, and Jill Sawatzky and Camilla Ah-Hoy added 12. Sawatzky paced all Oregon State hitters with 18 kills, and Rachel Rourke had 10.

Oregon State continues competition in the ASICS Classic this evening at 7 hosting No. 17 Colorado State.

Ducks sweep cENTRAL FLORIDA

LAWRENCE, Kan — The No. 13 University of Oregon women’s volleyball team opened the Kansas Invitational Friday with a convincing three-set win over Central Florida on the University of Kansas campus.

The Ducks (3-1) won their second match of the year in straight sets by scores of 25-13, 25-13 and 25-19 and rotated all 15 players through a match for the first time this season.

Senior Kristen Forristall had a season-high total of nine kills — one shy of her personal best — and also led the team in blocks with her seven block assists. Junior Neticia Enesi tied Forristall for the team’s individual best hitting percentage of the season (.462), and added eight kills.

Men’s soccer

OSU 5, Howard 0

CORVALLIS — Robby Christner helped lead Oregon State over Howard University with a hat trick in the opening game of the Hensor/Zaher Memorial Diadora Classic Friday evening.

Collin Foster and Brian Ramsey tallied the other two goals for the Beavers.

Oregon State (1-2-0) hosts Gonzaga in the tournament finale at noon on Sunday.
