Atteberry Award: Linn-Benton Community College named Bill Hubel, executive vice president and CEO of Citizens Bank, as this year’s Atteberry Award winner. The Atteberry Award is given each year to honor an LBCC Professional Technical Advisory Committee member for his or her outstanding contribution to LBCC. Hubel, a Corvallis resident, has served on the committee for more than eight years, including as chair and co-chair. The award was established in 1992 in honor of Dr. Pat Atteberry, who served as a member of the vocational education committee from 1977 to 1992.
Joins firm: Kaire Downin, a real estate professional in the Mid-Willamette Valley, has joined Keller Williams Mid-Willamette Market Center. Downin has extensive background in working with the needs of families and is a graduate of Train Agents Real Estate Online. SMART adds three: The local Start Making a Reader Today (SMART) program recently hired three new staff members, Lee Tinker, Tammy McCammon and Christi Clark. Tinker is the new area manager, overseeing Linn, Benton, Polk, and Marion counties as well as promoting program sustainability. He previously was the SMART development coordinator. McCammon is assistant program manager and will foster relationships with area schools and volunteers. McCammon previously was the AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer in the Service Learning & Career Development Department at Western Oregon University. Clark is the new area assistant. She was the SMART volunteer coordinator at Central Elementary in Albany for three years. In Linn County, the SMART program is at eight elementary schools. Appointed: Lory Humbert of Keizer has been appointed to lead Oak Creek Youth Correctional Facility in Albany and the Corvallis House transition facility, serving female youth offenders. Humbert comes to the facilities from the Oregon Department of Corrections, where she served as assistant superintendent of program services at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Wilsonville since its opening in 2001. She previously was security manager of Columbia River Correctional Institution and South Fork Forest Camp. She also spent two years on assignment to help design new correctional facilities.
