A Bend teenager is facing manslaughter and assault charges in the death of a former Albany man.
Tracy M. Rost, 38, of Bend, a 1988 graduate of South Albany High School, died late Monday at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend.
A celebration of life will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church in Albany. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home.
Rost and his girlfriend’s 16-year-old son, Kaleb Brown, were in an argument Monday evening at their home in Bend, according to the Bend Police Department.
When the fight became physical, Brown allegedly stabbed Rost in the chest with a sword.
Police and medics responded, and Rost was taken to the hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery but died.
Brown was arraigned Tuesday afternoon in Deschutes County Circuit Court on charges of first-degree manslaughter and first-degree assault. He was being held in the Deschutes County juvenile detention facility.
Rost grew up in Albany and played football at South Albany. He had been living in Bend for about 10 years and was working as an electrician, his family told the Democrat-Herald.
Rost loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed cooking.
“Everybody has good things to say about him,” said his brother, T.J. Iverson of Albany. “He was just the nicest, happy-go-lucky person. Nothing upset him.”
Rost is survived by Iverson and three other siblings, Bobby Rost, Jeff Rost and Melissa Iverson; daughter Madison Rost; his mother and stepfather, Paula and Jim Iverson; and his father, Bob Rost.
