Library to give ‘tour’ of databases

The Albany Public Library will present a tour of the databases available on the library’s computers from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Main Library, 1390 Waverly Drive S.E.

Reference librarians will demonstrate how to use databases such as:

• EBSCO Magazine Index, which provides articles in hundreds of periodicals and primary sources;

• Mango Languages, which helps the user learn up to 12 different languages;

• Heritage Quest and Ancestry, for genealogy research;

• EBSCO Auto Repair and Small Engine Repair;

• Reference USA, a national white and yellow pages telephone directory that includes business information such as names of executives, sales volume and number of employees.

The free program is intended for students, parents, teachers and anyone else interested in where to find information.
