OSU swimmers swamp Rice

Corvallis Gazette-Times

CORVALLIS - Four swimmers won individual events as the Oregon State women’s swim team beat Rice 181-136 on Saturday.

“It was a good weekend of racing,” OSU coach Larry Liebowitz said. “They raced really well and were able to win the close races. We had some races where we got out there and had pretty big leads, but when there was a really close race, we almost always got our hand on the wall first. Overall it was a very good weekend for us.”

Oregon State began the scoring with a win in the 400 medley relay from the foursome Saori Haruguchi, Signe Larson, Kayla Rawlings and Anna Crandall in 3 minutes, 53.36 seconds.

Rawlings won the 200 butterfly in 2:03.06, while former Crescent Valley star Brittney Iverson was second in 2:07.50.

Jenni Dole won the 200 back in 2:04.79.

Larson won the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.41.

Haruguchi won the 100 freestyle in 52.25, while Crandall took second in 53.05.

Oregon State hosts its alumni meet next Saturday at the Dixon pool.
