Mud slide closes forest road

A mud slide has closed Road 2207 in the Detroit Ranger District of the Willamette National Forest. The district said Friday the road, known as Little North Fork Road, will likely remain closed for months.

The slide is approximately three miles north of the French Creek Road intersection, and nearly 300 feet of the road is covered with mud and debris.

The Forest Service will wait for the area to stabilize and for suitable weather before deciding how repairs should be made.

Fish and Wildlife to sell licenses online

Outdoor enthusiasts can now purchase sport fishing and hunting licenses and tags online through the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Online License Sales website, http://www.dfw.state.or.us/online_license_sales. Documents for 2009 will go on sale Dec. 1.

While most licenses and tags are available online, many documents must be mailed. In some cases a temporary document can be printed and used until the annual document arrives. Postal delivery documents will be shipped within 10 working days.

Online license fees are the same as fees paid at an ODFW licensing agent or an ODFW office. An additional $2 shipping and handling fee applies to online purchases, except for instant fulfillment items. There is one fee per individual per transaction, regardless of how many items are purchased.
