Marjorie Angela Eggen, 94, of Lebanon passed away Saturday at Lebanon Care Center.
She was born in Grindstone, S.D., to Oliver and Martha (Wold) Olson.
Marjorie grew up in rural South Dakota. After graduating from high school in Pierre, S.D., Marjorie attended college and earned a teaching degree. She worked as an elementary school teacher in country schools for 10 years. She moved to California and married John E. Eggen on Aug. 30, 1941, in Los Angeles. They left California in 1945 and settled in Lebanon. Together, they owned and operated Eggen Photography Studio in Lebanon for 32 years until retiring in 1977. John and Marjorie loved traveling.
She and John were charter members of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. She was the past president of the Business and Professional Women’s Club. She was also a charter member of the Professional Photographers of Oregon and belonged to the Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, John E. Eggen of Lebanon; daughter Gloria Elliott of Stayton; sister Martha Lucille Hill of Byromville, Ga.; granddaughters Angela Klosterman and Lana Stumpff, both of Albany; grandson Andy Lebahn; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her son, Raymond Lebahn; brother John Harold Olson; and sisters Harriet M. Johnson and Hazel Irene Eatherton.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. Private burial will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Lebanon.
