‘Virtual Library’ to be topic of meeting
Reference librarian John Burton will be the featured speaker at the next meeting of the Albany Friends of the Library, at noon Friday at 1390 Waverly Drive S.E.
Burton will speak on “Your Virtual Library,” and the ways the Internet has expanded the power of accessing books and information. The meeting is free and open to the public.
Virtual resources available through public libraries now include ways to find lost family members, learn a new language, check out audio books, research the timeliest information on common ailments and even read magazines before they’re available on the newsstand.
“The ability of citizens to make the leap across the digital divide through their library is one of our great services,”¯ Burton said. “You may be surprised at what is virtually at your fingertips and residing on your or our computers.”
