Bike park group to meet

The Albany Bike Park Task Force will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Council Chambers at Albany City Hall, 333 Broadalbin St. S.W.

The task force will follow up on its Nov. 20, 2008, visit from the American Ramp Company representative. The task force will also discuss:

• Design concepts and location ideas.

• Timing of fundraising and budgeting.

• Planning for an upcoming public meeting to be held on Jan. 21.

The task force welcomes additional support from riders, parents, teachers, business members or civic organizations. Individuals with experience or expertise in park design, finance and construction, or organizing and promoting events or activities, could be especially helpful.

The task force grew out of a public forum in April 2008 when the Albany Parks & Recreation Commission heard from those with a stake in building a bike park, including skaters, BMX bikers, donors, public safety officials, parents, neighbors and event organizers.

To volunteer or for more information on the task force or a specific focus group, contact Tari Hayes, Albany Parks & Recreation, at (541) 917-7778 or tari.hayes@cityofalbany.net.
