People on the Move
Dave Wood has joined Willamette Community Bank as president and CEO. Wood, formally a Northwest regional manager for agricultural and rural commercial banking for Bank of the West, brings more than 30 years of experience in all facets of banking. He is a past recipient of the Small Business Advocate of the Year Award fromthe U.S. Small Business Administration and has taught business and entrepreneurial concepts at the university level.
Sang Ly Montage and Sandra Pendleton have joined A Touch of Class Vintage Day Spa in Albany. Montage, an acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist, studied at Southwest Acupuncture College in Albuquerque, N.M., and at the International Institiute of Chinese Medicine in Beijing. Her therapeutic sessions also incorporate other Oriental medicine modalities such as gua sha, cupping, qi gong, nutrition, diet and lifestyle counseling. Pendleton, a licensed massage therapist, offers deep tissue body work and muscle therapy.
Karen Neer has joined the Albany office of Coldwell Banker Valley Brokers as a real estate broker. She previously worked for Coldwell Banker offices in Woodland, Wash., and Portland.
Kristin Smith has joined Keller Wiilams Realty Mid-Willamette as a real estate broker. She has a background in residential new construction.
Officers & Directors
The Oregon State University Foundation has hired two new staff members. Lori Jordan Brown has been named the director of development for the College of Pharmacy. She previously served as director of alumni relations at Western Oregon University and in a variety of alumni and student life positions at Pacific University in Forest Grove. She has a bachelor's degree in English and a master's degree in teacher education from Eastern Oregon University. Travis Smith has been named director of development for education and 4-H. He previously served as the community director for the Southern Oregon Division of the March of Dimes. He has a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Oregon.

Selco Community Credit Union has received a Diamond Award from the Credit Union National Association for its new-member welcome kit. Based in Eugene, Selco has branches in six Oregon counties, including one in Albany. The marketing piece was designed by Creative Co. of McMinnville.
MEI of Albany has received the 2006 Supplier Excellence Award from Analog Devices Inc. MEI was one of 10 suppliers worldwide to receive the honor from ADI, a manufacturer of high-performance semiconductors for signal processing applications. It is the fourth consecutive year MEI has won the award.
A football media guide cover created for Linfield College by Corvallis marketing communications firm Visual People Design has been named Best Cover by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Linfield's football brochure placed second nationally and received the Best Cover award in the small college category. Visual People Design, owned by Ryan and Jennifer Gardner, offers Web site design, brochure and newsletter design, photography and copy writing.
Gary Smith, a package car driver for UPS, was recently recognized by the company for completing 25 years without an accident. Smith works out of the Albany UPS facility. He provides service in the Philomath area. Smith lives in Corvallis.
Training & Development
Joan Wessell, executive director of the Downtown Corvallis Association, has graduated from the Certification in Professional Main Street Management Institute, a certification program of the National Trust for Historic Preserva-tion. In addition to passing an entrance exam, Wessell completed two weeklong training courses and passed four tests to become a certified Main Street manager. The CMSM designation signifies mastery of the four-point Main Street approach to economic revitalization of historic commercial districts.
News & Notes
Nancy King, an associate professor of business law in the College of Business at Oregon State University, will spend several months next year doing research on privacy law in Belgium with a research grant from the Fulbright Scholar Program. King will do research on privacy issues related to the increasing use of cell phones as a portal for electronic commerce under the European Union Affairs Research Program in Belgium.
Nominations are open for the 2007 Excellence in Family Business Awards, presented by Oregon State University's Austin Family Business Program. Deadline for applications is May 1. Any family business is eligible, regardless of size or longevity. Businesses may apply online by visiting www.familybusinessonline.org. The 2007 winners will be announced at an awards celebration scheduled for Nov. 15 at the Oregon Zoo in Portland.
Reinvestment
The Meyer Memorial Trust has awarded a $500,000 grant to the Linn-Benton Community College Foundation. The money will help finance renovation of existing science lab space and construction of a new science building.
Coldwell Banker Valley Brokers of Lebanon provided every fourth-grader at six area elementary schools with an individually packaged Douglas fir seedling to take home, plant and care for. The tree giveaways were part of a new project called Fourth Grade Foresters of Oregon and distributed during Arbor Week.
