Earth Smart to open June 27 in Corvallis
CORVALLIS n The Earth Smart Store, which will offer environmentally friendly products, will open in Corvallis on Saturday.
Earth Smart will also provide service to local restaurants, offering a variety of compostable products including cups, plates, utensils and clamshell packaging. It will work with Allied Waste to collect compostable trash and take it to its own compost facility.
Hours for operation for Earth Smart, 160 NW Jackson Ave., will be Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The store can be reached at (541) 207-3480.
Safeway Foundation makes $5K donation
Oregon Safeway Foundation has presented Samaritan Albany Cancer Resource Center with a $5,000 donation.
The donation is to help fund the training of a local staff member to become a certified MammaCare specialist.
The specialist will be able to train women in the mid-valley on how to conduct breast self-examinations.

Stage company starts co-op for thespians
CORVALLIS - Willamette STAGE Company of Corvallis has launched STAGE U Studio, an effort to bring together the region's actors and aspiring actors towork together and sharpen skills.
The studio is led by Brian Newberg, who has more than 35 years experience as an actor, director, script consultant and professor of theatre.
In California, Newberg founded and operated a private acting studio and served as a professional acting coach. He taught theater at Linn-Benton Community College for two years.
