A seminar on the Business of Horses will be offered through Linn-Benton Community College Business and Employer Services from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 4 at LBCC, 6500 Pacific Blvd. S.W., Albany, in North Santiam Hall room 106.
The seminar focuses on horse breeders, trainers or boarders who would like to start a business. Participants will learn about contracts, depreciation schedules, section 179 deductions, security clauses, 1099 forms, 1031 exchange of horses, the Oregon equine activity statute, insurance and accounting records, and how to develop a business plan and market a business.
The instructor is M. R. Bain, who is experienced in the horse industry as an owner, trainer, breeder, manager, consultant and lecturer.
