Jo Henshaw has been promoted to manager of the mortgage department at Citizens Bank. Henshaw has worked at Citizens Bank for four years and has a total of 32 years of banking experience. She will continue to serve both Linn and Benton counties with offices at the main branch in Corvallis as well as in West Albany.
Dr. Lon McQuillan, a specialist in pediatrics, has joined Samaritan's Mid-Valley Children's Clinic at Geary Street in Albany.
McQuillan is a board-eligible pediatrician who graduated summa cum laude with a degree in biology from the University of Utah. He completed medical school at the University of Utah School of Medicine and his pediatric residency at Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Oregon Pediatric Society and the Oregon Medical Association
Dr. Beth Laurenson, a naturopathic physician, has joined Samaritan's Heartspring Wellness Center in Corvallis. Laurenson received her degree from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland.
As a naturopathic physician, Laurenson offers an alternative to conventional therapies by emphasizing treatment of the whole person, mind and body. Her practice includes general family health care and utilizes herbal medicine, homeopathy, nutrition, hydrotherapy and physical medicine.
Heartspring Wellness Center is the outpatient clinic of Samaritan Integrative Medicine.
David Wood has joined the counseling staff of Friends of the Family Ministries.
Wood holds a master's degree in marriage and family therapy from George Fox University and a bachelor's degree in family studies from Western Baptist College. He serves as adjunct instructor for the Western Baptist College adult studies program and has worked as an independent contractor with Polk County Mental Health Services.
Wood will be counseling at the Friends of the Family Ministries' new branch office at 425 Ellsworth St. S.W. in Albany. Appointments may be made through the Corvallis office by calling 757-1761.
Friends of the Family Ministries is a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to strengthen marriage and family relationships.
Judy Waetjen, a Corvallis real estate broker, has joined Keller Williams Mid-Willamette Market Center. She has been a Realtor since 1990 and has sold real estate in Eugene and on the coast. She also operated a bed and breakfast in Corvallis.
Waetjen is a graduate of Valparaiso University in Indiana and has served on the national board of the Valparaiso University Guild. Prior to her real estate career, Waetjen worked in publishing and university development.
Officers & Directors
Pat Sardell of Country Vitamins in Corvallis has been elected to the National Nutritional Foods Association board of directors. She will serve as retailer at large through July 2006, representing store members nationwide. Sardell will continue to serve as vice president of the association's Northwest region through November 2006.
NNFA is the nation's largest and oldest nonprofit organization dedicated to the natural products industry. It represents more than 7,500 retailers, manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors of natural products.
Rachel VanDerlip, a client specialist for the Center Against Rape and Domestic Violence, was awarded the PASSION Award by the Oregon Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence at the organization's annual conference.
VanDerlip received the award in recognition for her high level of commitment and advocacy to CARDV clients. The agency provides counseling, crisis intervention and shelter to women in Linn and Benton counties.
Green & White Rock Products Inc. has received the 2003 Good Neighbor Award from the state Department of Geology and Mineral Industries.
The operation is located six miles south of Corvallis within the Willamette River floodplain. Mining began on this property in the 1930s. The Jones family purchased the farm in 1959, and Green & White Rock Products became the operator in 1976.
The company was recognized for reconstructing an access road to improve water flow in an overflow channel of the Willamette River that runs through its aggregate mining operation and for its cooperative approach to working with the neighboring Jones Farm.
Comings & Goings
After an absence of more than a year, a Eugene gift and housewares maker has found a new outlet for its wares in Corvallis. Tin Woodsman Pewter Co. has brought its line of cups, spoons, canisters, keychains and other decorative pewter goods to the gift shop at ArtCentric, 700 S.W. Madison Ave. The company used to sell its products at Oregon Originals on Northwest Monroe Avenue, but that store closed down to make way for the new University Center.
Marriage and family therapist Leanne Schamp has opened a private practice and is providing counseling to couples, individuals and families. Her office is located upstairs in the Two Rivers Market in downtown Albany, 250 Broadalbin St. S.W., Suite 285.
Schamp holds a master's degree in marriage and family therapy from George Fox University and is registered with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists. She has received additional training and has experience in domestic violence issues, critical incident and stress management (peer support), the effects of trauma, and in a number of healing prayer models.
Prior to establishing her practice in Albany, Schamp worked as an independent contractor for a counseling agency in Salem, as well as maintaining a private practice there. Her most recent position was on the staff of Friends of the Family Ministries in Corvallis. Her work there included providing counseling services and presenting seminars for both secular and faith communities.
A group for women desiring to heal from the effects of abuse is scheduled to begin in October. The office phone number is 926-8882.

Oregon Housing and Community Services has announced a new funding opportunity for farmworker housing. The agency's Farmworker Housing Development Account has $150,000 to provide grants or loans to construct, acquire or rehabilitate on-the-farm housing for low-income farmworkers.
Awards can be up to $25,000 per application. Eligible applicants include for-profit businesses, local government entities, housing authorities, not-for-profit agencies, nonprofit corporations, and private individuals or corporations, including agricultural growers or farm labor contractors.
Applications will be accepted until Oct. 25.

Oregon State University has created a new online master's degree program for classroom teachers that partners them with businesses and organizations that want to boost K-12 education. This new "mentored master's" program will begin this fall through OSU's School of Education and the university's Extended Campus.
The full-time program offers a combination of established courses with an opportunity for participants to design part of their curriculum. While some of the potential partners may already be part of the OSU program, teachers are encouraged to develop their own partnerships with the university's support. Reinvestment
Five mid-valley nonprofit organizations have benefitted from $11,000 in grants from the Weyerhaeuser Co. Foundation.
The grants consisted of $5,000 for Kids and Company of Linn County to help pay for van transportation for children attending the Head Start Center in Lebanon; $2,000 for Family Tree Relief Nursery in Albany for its early intervention program for high-risk, low-income families; $2,000 for Albany Helping Hands Inc. for its shelter rehabilitation project; $1,000 for the Scio Girls & Boys Club for its after-school program and memberships for low-income youth; and $1,000 for Housing, Employment and Learning Programs for Self-Sufficiency of Corvallis for transportation for the YouthBuild Program.
