New officers: The Albany Downtown Association has announced its new officers to the board of directors. The officers are: Marc Manley, president, owner of the Flinn Block building on First Ave.; Karl LaCalli, vice president, Renew Consulting; Connie Lanham, treasurer, downtown building owner; and Jeri Caudle, secretary, Aromatique. The ADA also said volunteer help is needed and anyone interested in volunteering with upcoming events may drop off a letter of interest at the Albany Downtown Association office in Two Rivers Market suite 110, or e-mail it to oscar@albanydowntown.com.
Accepts position: Rachel Todd, director of specialty practices for Samaritan Health Services, has accepted the position of service line director for oncology services at Samaritan Regional Cancer Center. Todd will continue her responsibilities as director of specialty practices. Todd joined SHS in 2005. She has a bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a master's of business administration from Oregon State University.
Expands menu: The Beanery has expanded its menu to include four new gourmet burgers and hand-scooped shakes. The barbecued burgers will bee 100 percent beef and shakes will have a variety of flavors. Burgers will be served seven days a week through September. The Beanery features inside and outside dining.
Journal editor: Toni Doolen, an associate professor in the School of Mechanical, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at Oregon State University has been named the new editor of the Engineering Management Journal by the American Society for Engineering Management. Doolen earned his doctorate in industrial engineering at OSU and worked for 11 years as an engineer, senior member of technical staff and manager at Hewlett-Packard.
Leadership participant: The American Leadership Forum (ALF) of Oregon has selected Benton County District Attorney John Haroldson to participate in the statewide American Leadership Forum of Oregon program for 2009-2010. He will join 22 other leaders from various businesses and agencies around the state as part of the organization's Class XXIV Fellows Program at Marylhurst University in Portland. Fellows will take part in seminars throughout the year that will center on topics related to collaborative leadership and community building in the state.
