LBCC faculty member Janet Lodge received the Lammers Professional Development Scholarship at the 62nd Annual Oregon Business Education Association Conference held Oct. 10. She will receive up to $300 to help defray expenses to attend the 2009 National Business Education Association convention in Chicago in April.

Lodge, an Albany resident, is a part-time faculty member at LBCC and the executive assistant to the vice president of academic affairs. She has been an active member of the International Association of Administrative Professionals, having served as president and treasurer. She received her Associate of Applied Science from LBCC in 1989, a Bachelor of Science from Linfield College in 2000, and a Master of Science from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kan.

DVM honored: Patrick O. Long, DVM, of Corvallis, was honored with the 2008 Dr. Donald E. Bailey Small Ruminant Practitioner of the Year award recently in New Orleans. The annual award presented by the American Association of Small Ruminant Practitioners recognizes a member that has set a high standard as a small ruminant practitioner and demonstrated exemplary service in organized veterinary medicine, particularly small ruminant medicine.

Long serves on the Alpaca Research Foundation and Oregon Animal Health Foundation. He is an active member of the Willamette Valley Llama Foundation and a trustee of the Morris Animal Foundation. He operates Camelid Healthcare Services in Corvallis.

Fellowship award: Oregon State University Honors College student Dann Cutter was awarded the Roundtable on Entrepreneurship Education Fellowship at Stanford University for fall 2008. The fellowship is awarded annually to a select group of students representing an array of international programs in entrepreneurship. Cutter was one of only 10 U.S. students to be honored.

A senior double degree student in finance and chemistry, Cutter works at OSU's Hatfield Marine Science Center as a network analyst, and holds elected office as a city councilor for his hometown of Waldport.

New sales team member: Jonathan Miller has earned his real estate license and joined the sales team at Windermere/Willamette Valley. He holds a Bachelor of Science in business from Linfield College.

Miller is working with Rob Richards, commercial specialist at the Albany office, on several commercial projects. He is also focusing efforts on new construction near Millersburg Park in Alexander Estates and at Walker Park.

OSU dean honored: Thayne Dutson, retired dean of Oregon State University's College of Agriculture Sciences, has been selected for the 2008 Ag Connection Award presented by the Agri-Business Council of Oregon. The award is given annually to recognize outstanding leadership in connecting the public with agriculture.

Dutson was honored for overseeing significant growth of the college's education and research roles, including the OSU Seafood Laboratory in Astoria and the establishment of the Food Innovation Center in Portland in collaboration with the Oregon Department of Agriculture.

Dutson will be presented with the award at the Denim and Diamonds Dinner on Nov. 21 in Portland. Also being honored will be Oregon Agriculturist of the Year Bernie Faber, owner of Cal-Gon Farms in Tillamook.
