Real estate sales: Patti LeBlanc has joined the real estate sales team at Windermere/Willamette Valley in Albany. LeBlanc has been listing and selling real estate since 2006. She says her favorite part about being a Realtor is helping people make their dreams come true. Prior to real estate, LeBlanc worked for an oil company for more than a decade and moved to the Albany area nearly six years ago. Recertified: Registered nurses Susan Merrill, BSN, RN, CCM, and Joann Stutzman, BSN, RN, ONC, of The Corvallis Clinic, have been recertified as MammaCare Specialists. MammaCare is the recognized standard for teaching and performing clinical breast examination in breast cancer screening clinics. As MammaCare Specialists, Merrill and Stutzman are authorized to teach self breast exam techniques to women and other health care professionals.
The Corvallis Clinic Foundation offers introductory MammaCare classes through Project H.E.R. (Help. Enlightenment. Resources.). The comprehensive breast health services program supports women in Benton, Linn and Lincoln counties. For information, call (541) 738-2065, ext. 2.
Degree awarded: Anthony Terndrup, Ph.D., executive director of The Pastoral Counseling Center, was recently awarded a Master of Arts in pastoral ministry from the University of Portland. The Pastoral Counseling Center provides professional and affordable therapy services for individuals in Linn and Benton counties.
Information officer: Monte Turner has been named interim public information officer at the Oregon Department of Transportation. Turner, stationed in Springfield, will provide service for Lane, Linn, Benton and Lincoln counties. He will take over for Joe Harwood who is leaving ODOT to take a position with the Eugene Water & Electric Board. Turner, who has 20 years experience in public information, began work May 5 and will work Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. He comes out of retirement after filling information positions with several state agencies. Harwood's last day was May 1. ODOT plans to fill the position full time by early July.
Doctor-Citizen: Dr. David R. Grube, family physician at The Corvallis Clinic's Philomath Family Medicine, has been chosen as Oregon's 2009 Doctor-Citizen of the year. Each year since 1957 the Oregon Medical Association has given the honor to acknowledge the contributions of an Oregon physician who has dedicated his or her life to something more than practicing good medicine.
Dr. Grube was chosen for his exemplary dedication to the medical profession and to causes ranging from his local community to the environment and his spiritual community. He has received numerous professional awards including Oregon Family Doctor of the Year in 1985. He was runner-up for America's Family Doctor of the Year in 1986.
