Statement: My work is primarily based on an intellectual and emotional response to color. Form also exists, but it is often hidden or partially visible through layers of paint, surface reworking, and the translucencies of various painting mediums. Most of my paintings are adjusted and repainted over a period of months until reaching a period of nervous rest. Conceptually, I'm interested in the place between transience and permanence that exists in the physical environment and human patterns. The idea that the seemingly immovable can vanish without warning, while the temporal becomes more entrenched is of increasing importance in my artistic outlook.
