Journey Living Life Together is the name of the new church planted in Albany by Jefferson Baptist Church.

The new church meets at 11 a.m. Sundays in the cafeteria of Clover Ridge Elementary School in Albany, 2953 Clover Ridge Road N.E.

Bob Thompson, previously the associate pastor at Jefferson Baptist for nine years, is Journey LLT's new pastor. Seventy-five people transferred from Jefferson Baptist to help start the new congregation.

"We named it Journey LLT because we are all in this journey of life together," said Todd Boshart, a member at the church.

The church has been going for almost seven weeks. Equipment for the services is kept in a 26-foot trailer that is stored on a member's property who lives close to the school.

Every Sunday five to seven men get together at 9 a.m. to set up the chairs. According to Thompson, that takes about a half hour. After that, the men head home to help their wives get the children ready for church.

"The services have been going great," said Thompson. "We have been averaging about 130 people, which is a good solid number for a church plant."

According to Thompson, several people meet at Comfort Inn Suites prior to the service Sunday mornings. At 7 a.m. there is a men's leadership meeting; 8 a.m. is corporate prayer; and 9 a.m. is women's leadership.

"Our main goal is to reach the unchurched and families who have turned away from church," Boshart said. "The plant actually took off bigger than expected."

Journey LLT will hold a community prayer for the workers and family members of workers soon to be laid off at Albany Paper Mill. The service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Clover Ridge Elementary.

"Want to pray for the futures of the families, that this is a good change, and that their future will work out well," Boshart said. "Anybody is welcome. The more people there praying, the better."
