Trillium Children's Farm Home will host a gingerbread house contest from Dec. 6 to 14. The contest is open to children, adults and professional gingerbread artists with prizes ranging from $15 to $100.
Contestants must register for the contest by Nov. 22. Entries must be delivered to the Children's Farm Home Chapel by Dec. 4; judging will take place Dec. 14.
Entries should be no larger than 24-inches by 24-inches by 40 inches, and should be made entirely of edible materials (mainly gingerbread) and must be attached to a sturdy surface. Each house will be judged on creativity, overall appearance, difficulty and adherence to design rules. The age of the oldest participant in each group will determine the judging category. Entries must be coated with sealant to prevent spoilage, deter pests and to preserve them during the display period. Entrance fees ranging from $5 to $40 also depend on the contestant's age.
Proceeds will benefit the agency's Clients' Special Needs Fund, which supports young people living with mental and behavioral health challenges.
Members of the community are encouraged to come see the houses during the week of Dec. 6. The Children's Farm Home is located at 4455 N.E. Highway 20 in Corvallis. For more information about the contest, contact Cheri Galvin at 758-5953 or cgalvin@trilliumfamily.org.
