Oregon State Police Sgt. Craig Flierl has provided names and condition updates on people involved in two fog-related crashes in the mid-valley Wednesday morning.
He also explained what happened to cause each wreck.
At 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, a 2001 Dodge pickup collided with a 1999 International semi-truck and trailer owned by Knife River at Highway 99E and Linn-West Drive north of Halsey.
The pickup driver, Shawn Lawyer, 29, of Sandy ran a stop sign and crashed into the semi-truck. Lawyer suffered a head wound and was transported by Albany ambulance to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. He was treated and later released.
Lawyer was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.
The semi-truck driver, Eddie Coleman, 65, of Albany, who was southbound on Highway 99E, was not injured.
The Halsey-Shedd Fire Department assisted at the scene.
At 7:38 a.m. Wednesday, a semi-truck carrying a container box and an older Datsun 710 station wagon collided at the Highway 34 and Columbus Street intersection.
The driver of the westbound Datsun, Candice DiGiulio, 20, of Corvallis was taken by Albany ambulance to the hospital in Corvallis.
She suffered "severe" but non-life threatening injuries. She was cited for violating the basic rule. She was going about 50 miles an hour in heavy fog.
The semi-truck driver, Jon Titus, 27, of Gates was not injured. He was on Columbus Street turning east onto Highway 34 when the Datsun struck the truck.
The Tangent Fire Department was on the scene.
