Police got reports in Albany and Lebanon over the weekend that pit bulls had killed cats in one case and chickens in another.

Albany police said at least two cats were reportedly killed by a pit bull that was let loose around midnight Saturday from an apartment in the 1700 block of Queen Avenue S.W.

Police said they received two calls Sunday from people claiming the dog had killed their cats. One of the cat owners lives in the 1100 block of Queen Avenue S.E., and the other lives in the 500 block of Main Street S.E.

Police found a third dead cat, near Fourth Avenue and Main Street, which also appeared to be killed by a dog.

Police cited the pit bull owner, who lives in Turner and was visiting a friend in Albany, with causing a public nuisance dog and allowing a dog to run at large.

According to police, the friend was the one to let the pit bull loose when she let her own dog out. She was also cited for having a dog at large.

In Lebanon, a resident in the 100 block of E. Joy Street reported that three pit bulls entered her yard and killed her chickens early Saturday morning.
