People arrested are innocent unless proven otherwise in court. Initial charges often change as a case progresses.
ALBANY POLICE
Marijuana bust - During a traffic stop Thursday, police arrested Eric Thomas Johnson, 26, of Albany, and then executed a related search warrant at a house at 3116 Hill St. S.E.
Detectives said they seized dealer quantities of marijuana, and also psilocybin mushrooms, methamphetamine, prescription medicines, scales, packaging materials, drug records, drug pipes, four loaded firearms and other illegal weapons, and body armor.
Two children at the home were taken into protective custody by the Oregon Department of Human Services.
Thomas was charged with delivery and possession of marijuana, child neglect and failure to register as a sex offender. The investigation continues and further arrests are anticipated. Johnson was lodged in the Linn County Jail.
Toy guns - Police responded to a report around 4:20 p.m. Thursday of a man carrying two pistols and pointing them at traffic along Pacific Boulevard S.W. near Ferry Street. An officer found the man near Ninth Avenue and Ellsworth Street and told him to drop the pistols. The man complied and officers discovered the weapons were toys purchased at a dollar store. The man was charged with disorderly conduct.
Making conversation - Police responded just before 2 a.m. Wednesday to a report of a woman screaming for no obvious reason in a yard in the 500 block of Third Avenue S.E. An officer contacted the woman, who then started a conversation with an "invisible person," according to the officer's report. Police asked the woman to remain inside if she was going to have any more conversations, and she agreed.
Lebanon Police
Lost balance - Police got a call about a man who apparently fell off his bicycle and was discovered lying on the sidewalk near the Hometown Furniture Warehouse on South Main Road about 10:30 p.m. Thursday. Police found a "very intoxicated" 48-year-old man when they arrived. Police gave the man a ride.
Valentines gone - A woman called police about 12:30 p.m. Thursday to say that within the last two days someone entered her home in the 500 block of S. 14th Avenue and took $9.50 worth of Valentines. The culprit also took the deed to the woman's house.
LINN COUNTY SHERIFF
Reported dog neglect - Deputies responded Tuesday to an anonymous tip about a dog in poor condition at a home in the 500 block of Oregon Street in Lebanon. According to the sheriff's office, the dog, which appeared to be a lab mix, had been put in the back of a canopied pickup at least a week earlier and hadn't been fed for four days. The dog's owner kept the dog there while he was on the Linn County Jail inmate work crew.
According to the sheriff's office, the dog was barely alive when they found it. The owner agreed to give up ownership and the dog was taken to SafeHaven Humane Society.
The case will be reviewed by the Linn County District Attorney's Office.
Theft - A $1,300 RV heating unit was reported stolen Wednesday from the 34000 block of Excor Road off Highway 34.
Sweet Home Police
Reported assault - Police responded Thursday to a report that a 10-year-old had been assaulted on the bus a few days ago. Police arrested a 12-year-old for fourth-degree assault, booked and cited him, then returned him back to school because the Linn Benton Juvenile Detention Center was full.
Throw up - A man was arrested for second-degree disorderly conduct at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of Nandina Street after a fight with another man. He was also charged with second-degree criminal mischief for throwing up "all over" a cell phone and refusing to clean it up. He was booked, cited and released.
