ALBANY POLICE

Car vs. pedestrian - Police and medics responded at 3:33 p.m. Monday to a crash involving a 2001 BMW car and a pedestrian at the intersection of Santiam Highway and Clay Street S.E.

According to police, the car was traveling south on Clay and making a left turn onto Santiam when it struck James Avery Allen, 54, of Albany, who was in the crosswalk following the signal.

The driver, Ratri Tamma, 43, of Corvallis, had a green light but did not give the right of way to the pedestrian, according to police. She was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.

Allen was taken to the Albany hospital, where he was treated and released.

Theft - Police took a report Monday from a police officer who works in Salem. He reported that his Glock pistol and police badge were stolen from his vehicle. Another nearby vehicle was also broken into.

LINN COUNTY SHERIFF

Koi theft - Four koi fish were reported stolen Monday from a private pond in the 42100 block of Fish Hatchery Drive. Two of the fish were orange and black, one was yellow and the fourth was white and black. The fish are more than 2 feet long and about 13 years old. The owner told the sheriff's office each fish is worth at least $800.

Burglary - Gun and ham radio equipment were reported stolen Monday from a house in the 27900 block of Fern Ridge Road. Approximate value: $1,200.

Crash - A Mazda pickup went off Quartzville Road, down a 40-foot embankment and into the river near the Green Peter Dam on Saturday. The driver refused medical treatment.

Break-ins - At least two homes in the 34200 block of Riverside Drive were broken into during the weekend. One of the houses was ransacked but it didn't appear anything was stolen.

Arrest - Albert Richard Soto, 45, of Albany was arrested early Sunday and charged with giving alcohol to a minor, sexual abuse and related offenses. He was lodged in the Linn County Jail. According to the sheriff's office, the charges stem from alleged events that occurred during a house party in the 34000 block of Grand Prairie Road. The reported victim is a 17-year-old girl.

LEBANON POLICE

Boxing with friends - A caller reported a large group of people fighting in the 1000 block of Kees Street around 6:45 p.m. Monday. Police contacted the people and learned that they were friends who were boxing with gloves. They agreed to moved to the back yard or garage if they continued.

SWEET HOME POLICE

Airsoft shooting - Police were called shortly before 7 p.m. Monday about a person being shot by an airsoft gun. A 20-year-old woman was cited for recklessly endangering and unlawful discharge of an airsoft gun in city limits.

Into the river - Following a foot chase with police, a man decided to take his chances in the South Santiam River shortly before 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Matthew James Dreyer, 35, of Sweet Home was eventually taken into custody. He had outstanding warrants for failure to appear and was lodged in the Linn County Jail.
