Linn County sheriff

Odd conduct - The sheriff's office got a call early Thursday afternoon about a man "acting very odd" in the 200 block of W. Bishop Way in Brownsville. The caller stated the man tried punching a door after seeing his own reflection, was eating food off the ground and was smoking used cigarettes out of a garbage can. A deputy spoke with the man and warned him about disorderly conduct and told him to stay away from the area.

Dog poop fight - A deputy responded to the 300 block of W. Second Street in Halsey around 3 p.m. Thursday for a two-man argument about dog poop.

According to the deputy's report, the argument was prompted by a man leaving his dog's "brown pile" near the roadway in front of a business. The dog owner said he went to get plastic to clean it up when the other man followed him and challenged him to pick up the mess.

Both men were "very verbal" and claimed they would hurt each other if given the chance. A knife was threatened to be used, according to the report. Neither man wanted to press charges.

Sweet Home Police

False claim - A 49-year-old Sweet Home woman called police about 2:20 p.m. Thursday to say her husband was going to kill her, but she had a gun and planned to kill her husband, and then she hung up.

Police gave this account:

Police arrived at 845 Fourth Ave., and asked Debra Tertrou to come outside. She did, telling officers she was not going to shoot her current husband, Jean, but her ex-husband in California. Police found her current husband passed out in the living room. When he woke up, he said he had no idea there was a problem.

Before police left, they gave Debra Tertrou a warning for disorderly conduct and misuse of 911.

She called police again at 3:05 p.m. reporting she had just shot her husband. Police arrived and took up tactical positions around the house. Through a loudspeaker, her husband was asked to come out. He did and was unharmed. Debra then barricaded herself in the house, and after about an hour she was talked into surrendering.

Police charged her with disorderly conduct and two counts of initiating a false report. Several firearms were seized.
