All trails leading to the summit of Iron Mountain will be closed temporarily starting Wednesday, Aug. 19, so crews can construct a new viewing platform.
The closure affects Iron Mountain Trail, Cone Peak Trail and sections of surrounding trails.
Contract crews will use a helicopter to transport building materials to the summit; closure signs and staff will be posted along affected trails during helicopter operations.
The original time frame announced in July for the helicopter operations was delayed because the contractor's helicopters were needed to support fire suppression activities on neighboring national forests.
