Gym to offer free activities for a week

The Get Active America event starts today at Fitness Experience, 1715 Hill St., when they will open their doors free to the public through Sunday.

During the Get Active America open house, guests will have free access to the club's trainers, exercise equipment and exercise classes.

Animal Planet star to speak at OSU

Kevin Fitzgerald, star of the Animal Plant network's "Emergency Vets," will bring his special brand of humor, insight and storytelling to Oregon State University at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the LaSells Stewart Center.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth 12 and under. They may be purchased at LaSells Stewart Center on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Magruder Hall from noon to 1 p.m., or at the door. They can also be ordered over the phone by calling 737-2402.

OREGON

Samaritan gets service award from OEMA

The Oregon Emergency Management Association has recognized Samaritan Health Services with a service award for its efforts to enhance emergency management capabilities in Linn, Benton and Lincoln counties.

According to OEMA, SHS works with community partners - including local emergency medical services, public health, fire and police departments - to enhance existing emergency management structures within city and county governments by: donating the time of SHS emergency management staff; leading disaster drills; providing emergency management meeting and training space; and working to procure and share resources that can be used to respond to emergencies in the community.

OEMA is a statewide organization of emergency management professionals.

SWEET HOME

Seminar set on wills, estate planning

The Lebanon Community Hospital Foundation will host a free wills and estate planning seminar from 9:30 to 11 a.m. May 22 at Wiley Creek Community in Sweet Home.

The Samaritan-owned retirement center is at 5050 Mountain Fir St.

Steve Hanscam, a certified public accountant for more than 27 years, and Robert Snyder, an attorney since 1981, will explain how to create an estate and plan for its disbursement. They will also answer any questions from attendees.

Refreshments will be provided.
