ALBANY POLICE

Traffic stop, drugs - Police found evidence of drug activity when they made a traffic stop about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

According to a police report, an officer stopped a car near Santiam Highway and Burkhart Street S.E. for failing to obey a traffic control device. The vehicle also had a shattered windshield.

The backseat passenger was cited for not wearing a seatbelt. The driver was cited for driving while suspended and driving uninsured. The car, a 1992 Buick Century, was towed.

A woman riding in the front seat had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear and was arrested. Police searched the woman's purse and found $520 cash, more than 20 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale, packaging materials, drug paraphernalia and three cell phones, according to the report. Police found additional drug paraphernalia when they searched a backpack.

Stephanie Brianne Conder, 27, of Salem was lodged in the Linn County Jail on charges of delivery and possession of meth.

Drunken driving - Police took a call at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday about a suspicious vehicle driving slowly in the 3200 block of Boston Court S.E.

An officer found the vehicle traveling 25 mph in a 40 mph zone and made a traffic stop on Waverly Drive. The driver was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and taken to the police station. Once in an interview room, the man urinated and began taking apart a digital recorder that the officer had been using.

The man was charged with DUII, tampering with evidence, criminal mischief, refusing to take a breath test and parole violation.

Suspect chase - Police stopped a car in the 700 block of 24th Avenue S.E. at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday while searching for people involved in a possible burglary attempt.

One of the men in the car took off running. Just after that, a woman called the police department to say she had heard a "thud" outside her house, which was near the traffic stop. Police then got a call from American Family Video, saying there was a man at the business with a bloody face who was running from police.

Officers responded to the video store and arrested the man on charges of giving false information to police and criminal trespass. He also had a failure to appear warrant from Albany Municipal Court.

Injured duck - Police were called Tuesday morning about an injured duck on Geary Street near Queen Avenue S.E. The caller was concerned that the duck, which appeared to have been hit by a vehicle, would be hit again or cause a collision. A community service officer captured the duck and took it to Chintimini Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Corvallis.

LINN COUNTY SHERIFF

Burglary - A garage and vehicle on Columbus Street, outside Albany, were reportedly broken into sometime between Sunday and Tuesday. Items stolen included clothes, stereo speakers, amplifiers, CDs, comic books, tools and a car stereo. Estimated value: $4,000.
