This is the Oregon Department of Forestry Daily Fire Update for Tuesday, July 15, 2008.

FIRES

The Frozen Creek Fire, seven miles east of Myrtle Creek, was reported to the Salem Coordination Center late yesterday afternoon (July 14). It burned 15 acres on private lands in steep terrain, with heavy brush. In addition to Douglas Forest Protective Association resources that were assigned to the fire, Myrtle Creek, Tri City, and Riddle Rural Fire Departments assisted with structure protection. By early evening, this fire was trailed and under control, and mop-up in progress. Cause of the fire is under investigation. Unless something changes, this will be the only report on this fire.

The Jim Creek Fire, 15 miles east of Roseburg, burned about 164 acres and is currently contained and in mop-up. The fire was reported Friday at 1:30 p.m. Douglas Forest Protective Association led a Type 3 Incident Management Team comprised of neighboring Oregon Department of Forestry districts, Coos Forest Protective Association, Bureau of Land Management, Umpqua National Forest, structural fire departments and several timber industry personnel. Cause of the fire is under investigation. Unless something changes, this will be the last report on this fire.
