The Linn County Board of Commissioners has named six new people to the Commission on Children and Families.

Commission coordinator Dar Williams provided these descriptions of the new appointees.

Nancy O'Mara is the executive director for the Center Against Rape and Domestic Violence (CARDV) and brings experience in domestic violence issues.

Tammy Hesberg is a homemaker and a private investigator in the Sweet Home area. She is the mother of five children.

John Meade is the manager of the Child Welfare Program in Albany and has extensive experience with child abuse and neglect issues.

Wendy Bruun is the store manager at Umpqua Bank in Albany and is an active member of the Marion County Commission on Children and Families.

Torri Lynn is the director of the Linn County Juvenile Department and was previously an advisory member of the commission.

Cathy Morris is a crime prevention specialist with the Linn County Sheriff's Office and is active in community initiatives.

Diane Gerson is a retired school administrator from Sweet Home and serves on the Sweet Home School Board. She was previously a member of the commission and served as chair for several years.

In other county business, the commissioners approved a resolution affirming their determination last month to overturn the planning department's decision in the Glender Measure 49 claim.

Commissioners said Eugene and Viola Glender had met the requirements and proven they had a vested right to develop 16 lots on a 25-acre property located west of Scravel Hill Road and south of its intersection with Sunset Drive.

The commissioners commended the city of Lebanon for its North Gateway urban renewal efforts and asked that once the infrastructure investments had been made that they terminate the district.
