ALBANY

Parenting class to follow library story times

Parents are invited to the informal drop-in "Parenting Q and A" class at the Albany Public Library from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday following story times.

Gift certificates from Frogs and Pollywogs toy store will be offered as door prizes and all participants will get nursery rhyme books.

Katrina Meyers, parent, certified temperament specialist, and long-time early childhood educator, will lead the classes. Parents are welcome to attend story times and then stay to learn about and share parenting issues.

Elementary choirs to present Disney show

Combined choirs from Takena and Liberty elementary schools will present "A Night of Disney" at 7 p.m. Thursday in the cafeteria at West Albany High School, 1130 Queen Ave. S.W. Admission is free.

The Takena Tones are directed by Margo DeYoung and the Liberty Singers are directed by Victoria Thune.

CORVALLIS

Clinic to hold free hearing screening

The Corvallis Clinic will offer a free hearing clinic Tuesday through Thursday as part of Better Hearing and Speech Month. The public is invited for free hearing tests, hearing-aid checks and cleanings, and information on new digital hearing-aid technology.

The clinic is sponsored by the ear, nose and throat department, located in the Aumann Building, 444 N.W. Elks Drive.

Hearing tests will be administered by Diane Bach of The Corvallis Clinic. Call 754-1251 for a free appointment. No referrals are necessary.

Workshop set on tool sharpening

The Women Owning Woodland Network (WOWnet) will offer a free evening class, "Tool Sharpening: Look Sharp, Be Sharp, Sharp Tools make Lighter Work," from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at 500 N.E. Avalon Place, Corvallis.

Daryl Richardson will lead the session, which will cover tool sharpening, selection and care. Bring your favorite dull tools.

The host is fixing chili or chowder. Guests are invited to bring something to go with that. Beverages will be provided.

HARRISBURG

Family resource group celebrates 10 years

The H.A.R.T. Family Resource Center invites the public to a celebration of its 10th anniversary. "A Sweet H.A.R.T. Evening" is set for 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Harrisburg Christian Church activity center, 601 Smith St.

All are invited to be part of the evening, which will highlight the best of H.A.R.T. with desserts, locally roasted coffee and other beverages, and a chance to meet and greet your neighbors. H.A.R.T. will recognize some of the many people who have been instrumental in the organization's success during the past decade.

Harrisburg Actively Reaching Together is a community connector addressing needs such as early childhood education and family literacy promotion, information and referral for social and emergency services, after school and summer activities for youth, computer use and Internet access for the community, and other services.
