Reforming the health insurance system will be the topic of several public meetings in the mid-valley over the next few weeks.
Albany resident Edie Orner compiled the list. She and several others belong to an Albany chapter of the Archimedes Movement, organized by former Gov. John Kitzhaber to further his plan for health insurance changes.
People in and around Albany, Lebanon and Corvallis are invited to any of the meetings, Orner said.
The list:
Sept. 10 - the Interfaith Health Care Network of Corvallis has scheduled a workshop at the Unitarian Church in Corvallis, 7-9 p.m. The purpose is to inform interested members of the public about what is contained in the plan developed under SB 329 by the Oregon Health Fund Board; provide an opportunity to critique the plan; and provide suggestions for providing input to the board when it makes its presentation in its final public forum in this area on Sept. 17.
Sept. 17 - The local public hearing of he Oregon Health Fund Board. Time and place TBA.
Sept. 29 - Representatives of the presidential candidates will participate in a health care forum to discuss their candidate's proposals for reform. Corvallis Library, 7 p.m.
Oct. 7 - State representative candidates' forum to present their positions on health care reform. Corvallis library 7 p.m.
