People arrested are innocent unless proven otherwise in court. Initial charges often change as a case progresses.

ALBANY POLICE

Alleged shoplifting - Police on Tuesday arrested a man for allegedly stealing four digital cameras, worth $380 each, from Costco.

According to police, security personnel saw the man take the cameras out of the packaging, put them in his shirt and walk out of the store. Security stopped the man outside and found the cameras. When police spoke with the suspect, he gave a false name.

Joseph Boone Huffman, 44, of Port Orchard, Wash., was charged with first-degree theft and identity theft. He also had outstanding warrants from Washington state.

Computer stolen - A handheld Intermec computer worth $2,000 was stolen from a delivery truck Tuesday in the 300 block of Airport Road S.E.

LINN COUNTY SHERIFF

Collision - Deputies responded to a two-car collision Tuesday afternoon on Lacomb Drive. According to reports, a driver hit the back of another car that was stopped on the road getting ready to turn into a driveway.

LEBANON POLICE

Hit and run - The owner of a Volkswagen Jetta reported Tuesday that someone sideswiped the car while it was parked at the Wal-Mart Supercenter. Damages were estimated at $1,000.

OREGON STATE POLICE

Crash - Two Sweet Home men were injured in a head-on collision that occurred at 8:38 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 20 near Cascadia. State police is investigating.

According to an initial report, a 1999 Ford Ranger driven by Glen Edwards Johnston, 38, of Sweet Home was traveling east on the highway when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 1995 Toyota pickup driven by Ronald James Sorrell, 45, also from Sweet Home.

Sorrell was first taken to the Corvallis hospital and then transferred to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland.

Johnston was taken to Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital, where he remained this morning. Charges against Johnston are pending.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office and the Oregon Department of Transportation assisted at the scene. Sweet Home police are assisting with the investigation. Police seized both vehicles.
