Money for job
The story: William Hill of Albany has been searching for a full-time job for nearly seven years. To step up the search, he put out a reward online to any business that would hire him. He listed his resume and said that if he was hired he would pay up to $5,000 to his new employer. His only stipulations were that it be a full-time job with benefits and a liveable wage. Hill has a degree from Eastern Oregon University and is currently enrolled at Linn-Benton Community College.
The latest: Hill said that since his story became public he has been contacted by the Albany Employment office and also by a man in Lebanon who led him to some online job sites, and as a result has led to some new job contacts. However, no employer has inquired about the reward.

La Roca vandalism
The story: Three times in early December, vandals hit the La Roca Mexican restaurant at 32050 Birdfoot Drive in Tangent. Someone scratched the windows and then returned the next night to spraypaint, in red, racial slurs on the building. The third day someone turned off the natural gas valve at the meter on the west side of the building.
The latest: Wilbert Marin of Philomath, who operates the restaurant, said no other problems have occurred since that first weekend in December. "Hopefully, this is pretty much over," he said. Marin has no idea who committed the attacks. Anyone with information is asked to call the Linn County Sheriff's Office at (541) 967-3950.
