Albany Police

Car vs. skateboarder - A 16-year-old boy suffered lacerations to his hand and chin after police say he ran into a 1990 Subaru Legacy at about 6:35 a.m. today near 340 Denver St. N.E. The skateboarder was cited for operating the skateboard on the wrong side of the road. His mother took him to the hospital to get checked out.

Elude attempt - An officer driving behind a 1995 Acura Integra on Marion Street near 34th Avenue noticed the car speed up at about 1:35 this morning. The car reached speeds of 70 to 80 mph. The officer turned on his lights but the driver did not pull over. The car continued north on Marion, turned east onto 28th Avenue, then stopped on Railroad Street just north of the intersection with 30th Avenue. The two people inside the Acura fled. More officers were called and they set up a perimeter and used a dog to track the driver and passenger. An officer located the driver behind a bush near 3033 Jackson St. He was taken into custody. The passenger was not found or identified. The Acura had been listed as stolen.

Larry Edward Watts, 32, of Albany was arrested on charges including attempt to elude, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, second-degree criminal mischief and reckless driving.

Sex abuse arrest - An Albany man who allegedly sexually abused a mentally disabled family member was arrested Thursday. The information came to police after the alleged victim, 17, talked about the events with someone legally required to report them. She told that person the abuse began when she was 7 years old.

James McKae Routhier, 20, of Albany was arrested on charges of first-degree rape, first-degree sex abuse, third-degree rape and incest. He was already in custody at the Linn County Jail on unrelated charges.

Marijuana grow - Acting on a citizen tip, detectives investigated an illegal marijuana operation at 30600 S. Fifth St. in Lebanon at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday. The caller had reported seeing what looked like marijuana plants growing on both sides of the driveway. A search of the residence uncovered two grow rooms inside the single-wide manufactured home. Thirty-three marijuana plants were seized. Detectives also seized the growing equipment, which included lights, ballasts and venting.

Residents Darrell Wayne Olson, 31, and Kyle Olson, 27, were arrested and taken to the Linn County Jail on charges of manufacturing and possession of a controlled substance.

Harrisburg assault - A father called police around 5:45 p.m. Thursday saying his 36-year-old-daughter had been injured by someone she had a restraining order against. According to deputies, the woman had voluntarily had contact with the person. She said an argument ensued and she was punched and kicked. Her left eye was swollen shut, and she had a bloody nose, pain in her jaw and head, and a swollen left thumb. The woman was transported to Riverbend hospital in Springfield. Deputies were unable to locate the alleged attacker.

Sweet Home Police

Cat tortured - A person reported finding a dead cat in Sankey Park about 10:05 a.m. Thursday. Police determined the cat had been tortured and killed. The officer wrote a report for first-degree animal abuse.
