JEFFERSON

AARP driving refresher course planned

An eight-hour classroom driving refresher course is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Jefferson Fire District Administrative Office Building, 189 N. Main St.

Participants must attend both days to receive a certificate, which may entitle them to a discount on their car insurance premium.

Topics include current laws and safe driving tips, as well as ways to compensate for injury- or age-related changes. The goal is to help drivers continue driving safely longer. There is no final test.

This month there is a price bonus: Two students can sign up for the cost of one, which means $5 each. However, at least one of the two must be an AARP member. The offer expires Sunday.

Drivers of any age can take the class and are encouraged to sign up in advance as class size is limited.

The class is sponsored by the Jefferson Fire District and taught by an AARP volunteer. For more information, call the fire district at (541) 327-2822, or stop by the station.
