PTA plans 'Kung Fu Panda' fundraiser
The Greater Albany Parent Teacher Association will hold a free showing of "Kung Fu Panda" for families and their children at 2 p.m. Saturday at Waverly Elementary School, 425 Columbus St. S.E.
The movie will be raffled, for free, at the end of the showing.
The PTA will sell popcorn, drinks and pizza by the slice. DVD gift cards also will be for sale for $20; purchasers can use the gift cards to buy DVDs online and a portion of the proceeds goes to the PTA.

Pancake fundraiser to aid Special Olympics
Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bars across the state, including those in Albany and Corvallis, are hosting a pancake breakfast fundraiser from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday for Special Olympics Oregon.
People are invited to an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast with bacon, eggs, juice or coffee for $5. All of the funds raised will go directly to supporting the athletes with travel expenses to monthly games across the state.

South Albany High to host big band dance
The South Albany High School Big Band Dance is from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the cafeteria at the school, 3705 Columbus St. S.E. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Support the Rebel band program by dancing and listening to music from the golden age of swing, featuring the Rebel Jazz Band and the Albany Swing Band.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and students. Dress is 1920s or semi-formal wear.
CORVALLIS
Boys basketball team to sell Krispy Kremes
A select eighth-grade boys basketball team called the "Soldiers" with kids from Brownsville, Tangent, Albany, Sweet Home and Corvallis is planning to sell Krispy Kreme doughnuts to raise money for registration fees and tournaments.
The doughnuts will be available at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Oregon State University football game. The kids will be at the front corner of the Hilton Garden Inn, 2500 S.W. Western Blvd.

Quilt group to teach Christmas folded napkins
The Santiam Scrappers Quilt Guild is having its third Saturday Sewing Day from 10 a.m. to noon this Saturday at St. Martins Episcopal Church on Grove Street.
The project will be Christmas tree folded napkins. Bring your sewing machine and two half-yards of different Christmas fabric. Cost is $5 for nonmembers and free for members.

Educare-Africa plans holiday fundraisers
Educare-Africa will have its seventh annual Christmas giving tree at the Heritage Mall from Nov. 26 through Dec. 26 to support students in Cameroon. Envelopes on the tree will contain information about the students and their gift needs.
The nonprofit organization will also have a table at the Lebanon Bazaar at the corner of Main and Ash streets from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. this Saturday and at the Salem Collectors Market from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 23 at the Salem Armory at the State Fairgrounds.
The tables will feature for sale greeting cards; 8-by-10-inch matted photographs; dresses made by a women's group in Cameroon; African jewelry; traditional Cameroonian caps; a framed print, "Wintering with The Wapiti," by Julie Kramer Cole; CDs; and a few other items from Cameroon.
