See it through April 27 at OSU

CORVALLIS - Oregon State University's College of Agricultural Science will open its 26th annual Art About Agriculture touring exhibition in Corvallis at the LaSells Stewart Center Giustina Gallery beginning today.

The theme of the exhibition, which runs through April 27, comes from a phrase coined by Henry David Thoreau in Walden - "The Nick of Time."

This year's juried exhibit includes 53 works of art by 41 artists from Oregon and Washington. The pieces are from many media, including acrylic, oil and watercolor paint, fiber, fused glass, wood engraving, linocut, wood block and etching, and photography.

"Many artists devoted their efforts to observing and recording the nature of time as it relates to the landscape - primarily the Pacific Northwest landscape - during the height of harvest season," said Shelley Curtis, curator of the annual exhibit.

After the Corvallis show, the exhibition will tour Oregon with stops scheduled as follows:

• Madras, Art Adventure Gallery, May 2-30.

• Baker City, Crossroads Art Center, June 6 to July 17.

• Roseburg, the Umpqua Valley Arts Association, July 25 to Sept. 6.

The exhibit is sponsored by a partnership of the OSU College of Agricultural Sciences and the OSU Foundation.
